THE COLLEGE

Located in the northwest corner of the United States, Peninsula College is nestled in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. The main campus in Port Angeles, Washington, overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the nearby city of Victoria, British Columbia, and has easy access to the Pacific Ocean, Olympic National Park, and Seattle. Port Angeles is two hours from Seattle and a one-hour ferry ride to Victoria, Canada. The College is honored to serve six sovereign American Indian nations in the region: Jamestown SKlallam, Lower Elwha Klallam, Quileute, Makah, Hoh, and Port Gamble SKlallam.

The College is honored to have strong relationships with these six federally recognized Tribes in the Colleges service district. The College is home to Longhouse of Learning. It is the first Longhouse in the nation to be built on a community College campus. The College offers transferable Indigenous language courses in Klallam/SKlallam, Makah and Quileute and Hoh languages. Instructional programs include a Tribal Homeland Security & Emergency Management certificate, and an Integrated Indigenous Studies transfer pathway. The College is committed to doing more and taking future direction from the Tribes.

THE POSITION

The Dean of Instructional Support Services provides strategic leadership for programs and services that support teaching, learning, student success, and institutional effectiveness. As a member of the Instruction & Student Services Leadership Team, the Dean oversees the Center for Equity, Teaching & Learning (CETL), Library Media Center services, tutoring and learning support services, faculty evaluation, student learning assessment, e-learning, and accreditation support. The Dean collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to advance instructional excellence, equitable student outcomes, continuous improvement, and compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements. The Dean ensures that library resources, learning support programs, and instructional technologies effectively support teaching and learning across all instructional modalities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leadership and Program Oversight

• Provide leadership, direction, and evaluation for assigned departments and services.
• Establish goals, priorities, and operational plans aligned with the college mission and strategic plan.
• Foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across instructional support functions.
• Ensure compliance with college policies, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.

Teaching, Learning, and Institutional Effectiveness

• Lead college efforts related to faculty development, faculty evaluation, student learning assessment, e-learning, instructional innovation, and effective teaching practices.
• Provide leadership for institution-wide accessibility efforts related to instruction, including faculty development, policy implementation, and the continuous improvement of instructional materials, technologies, and learning resources to ensure equitable student access and success.
• Collaborate with faculty and instructional divisions to integrate library resources, information literacy, research support, and learning support services into the instructional mission of the college.
• Support accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement through the use of data and evidence-based decision-making.

Support Services

• Lead, supervise, and support Library Media Center operations, including collections, circulation, reference services, electronic resources, information literacy initiatives,

research support, library technology systems, and learning resources with support of the Library Director and library personnel.

• Provide leadership for tutoring, learning center operations, writing and math support services, and computer lab resources, ensuring alignment with student success goals and instructional priorities.

Personnel and Resource Management

• Recruit, supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned personnel.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets and resources.
• Oversee planning, assessment, facilities, technology, and resource allocation for library

and instructional support operations.

• Ensure effective stewardship of financial, physical, and human resources.

College and Community Engagement

• Participate in college governance, leadership teams, and strategic planning efforts.
• Represent the college on local, regional, and statewide committees and organizations.
• Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support student learning and institutional success.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of higher education administration, accessibility, accreditation, assessment practices, academic library operations, learning support services, information literacy, teaching and learning best practices, and instructional technologies.
• Knowledge of emerging educational technologies, including generative AI tools and their effective, ethical, and accessible use in instruction and student learning.
• Ability to provide strategic leadership and manage complex programs and services.
• Ability to analyze data and use evidence to support decision-making.
• Knowledge of copyright, intellectual property, licensing, and information resource management principles.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to equity, student success, and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATES:

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters degree from an accredited institution.

• Three years of progressively responsible leadership experience in library management, higher education, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience in supervision, budget management, program development, and organizational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate from an accredited institution.

• Community college administrative experience.

• Experience with accreditation, assessment, teaching, faculty development, online learning, library services, learning support services, or instructional support services.

EMPLOYMENT PAY AND BENEFITS INFORMATION

• Full-Time Exempt position
• Annual Salary Range: $105,000 - $108,150
• Anticipated starting monthly salary: $8,750

Full Time Employee Benefits:

• Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; retirement plan options; optional credit union and tax-deferred annuity programs. As of July 1, 2025, Peninsula College contributes $1,333 per month towards the cost of the Washington State employee insurance programs. The college also supports professional development.
• Peninsula College is a qualified employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. If you work for the College full time, have had Direct Loans and are on an eligible repayment plan, you are eligible to apply.
• Sick leave accrual is 8 hours per month times Full-Time Equivalent.
• Vacation Leave accrual is 16 hours per month times Full-Time Equivalent.
• Personal Leave is 40 hours times Full-Time Equivalent, every July 1, prorated on date of hire.
• Personal Holiday is 8 hours times Full-Time Equivalent, per year after 4 months of service.
