Job Descriptions - Human Resources Department Revised on 5/28/2021 Position: Dean of Student Culture Department/Campus: Campus Reports to: Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Role/ Salary Band: Band 4 Job Type: Full Time Work Hours / Days: Normal School hours / 215 days JOB GOAL Responsible for assisting the principal to provide the cultural and administrative leadership necessary for addressing student safety and well-being, social-emotional learning, school discipline, and overall school effectiveness to create a strong culture for learning POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university o Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in PK-12 setting o Master's Degree (preferred) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: o Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools. o Obtains Danielson certification within 3 months of the first day in the assignment o Serves as the member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) at the assigned school in implementing instructional practices that include: - Leading and facilitating a learning culture among teachers and staff - Leading and facilitating campus wide data meetings - Observing and overseeing team data meetings - Conducting annual formal teacher observations and walkthroughs - Using observation-feedback cycles to provide ongoing coaching to teachers - Planning and co-facilitating campus professional learning (PL) meetings - Planning with PLC leaders - Modeling implementation of key Arc of the Year instructional techniques - Creating and implementing campus improvement plan (CIP) - Supporting teachers in microcredential progress - Providing periodic feedback to district and network leadership teams about instructional programs - Creating and collecting implementation artifacts for bright spots o Develops guidelines for proper student conduct and implementing disciplinary procedures and policies that ensure a safe and orderly environment at the assigned school o Establishes clear expectations, systems and routines for behaviors, including social and emotional supports o Leads strategies to proactively provide and coordinate student support services o Supervises teacher classroom management. o Trains staff on student code of conduct and implementation of discipline. o Develops and implements teacher orientations. o Maintains records of disciplinary actions taken to ensure that the student code of conduct is administered properly. o Communicates with parents and key stakeholders regarding student discipline and safety. o Maintains a safe and orderly school environment. o Monitors the school ground actively for safety checks. o Monitors student attendance and truancy, recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities o Assists in recruiting, selecting, and retaining highly effective teachers and staff o Oversees the work of assigned support staff and conducts their performance appraisals o Establishes and implements a plan for social-emotional learning across the school aligned with HPS priorities o Leads Character School application and designation process at the state and national level o Establishes a professional rapport with students, parents, staff, and community o Uses appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement o Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops. o Models personal commitment to developing self and others o Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel. o Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Descriptions - Human Resources Department Revised on 5/28/2021 SKILLS AND ABILITIES: o Thorough knowledge of classroom management, school culture, social-emotional learning programs, district policies and procedures o Ability to receive, internalize, and implement feedback from multiple sources o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district. o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district. o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone. o Ability to analyze data and generate reports. o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: o Light Work: may require occasional light lifting. o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required. o Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location. o Moderate travel is required.
