Performance Responsibilities:
- Is a visible and continuous presence in hallways and cafeteria throughout each day to ensure students are in class and handbook infractions are limited.
- Serves as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues.
- Investigates, adjudicates, and monitors minor handbook infractions in the form of progressive discipline, such as office detentions, lunch detentions, Saturday School
- Reports and refers all major handbook infractions to the assistant principal and assists with any resulting investigations, as requested.
- Coordinates efforts with guidance, school resource officer, school adjustment counselors, and school psychologist to discuss and problem-solve student attendance and/or behavior issues.
- Consults with families, in collaboration with assistant principal and guidance, concerning student attendance and behavior.
- Manages the documentation of minor student behavior through the student management system (IC and/or SWIS).
- Oversees daily office detentions (alternating with AP)
- Assists principal and assistant principal with the annual review and update of the school handbook appendix.
- Works collaboratively with staff associated with Connect and Pathways Programs to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed by each involved student. This may include acting as an escort for students to and from the Connect/Pathways Program, as needed and when appropriate.
- On a rotating basis with other staff members and administrators, monitor student lunch blocks to ensure that all handbook policies are being followed and students are not entering or leaving without permission.
- Participate in Restraint Training; become certified in its implementation and maintain the ability to implement restraint techniques; be familiar with regulations related to restraint use.
- Provide supervision at extra-curricular and athletic events, on a rotating schedule with principal and assistant principal. (MS/HS)
- Supervise/oversee summer school programming at MS/HS
- Assume responsibility when all other administrators are out of the building.
- Check athletic eligibility (MS/HS)
- Assist with PBIS Programming (with AP.)
