    Position Description:

    Provides executive level leadership and supervision for various assigned aspects of Academic and Student Success Office operations including, but not limited to, the Student Success Resource Center, the Admissions Office, the Testing Center, TRIO grant activities, Learning Resources Center and accommodations. Assists in the coordination and implementation of college policy and procedures and special projects as directed. Regularly required to resolve complex administrative problems independently and assume the responsibilities of the Vice President of Instruction in his/her absence.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Interpret departmental policies and procedures, making decisions on specific operating problems and issuing instructions in accordance with departmental precedents and policies.
    • Prepare reports and analyses reflecting progress and trends making appropriate recommendations or drawing conclusions. Serve as institutional liaison concerning student services policies and procedures.
    • Works with the Director of Public Information in publicizing the annual credit schedule and catalog information.
    • Conduct research, develop content, and create effective reports.
    • Handle confidential information which would have immediate negative impact on the college's operations or effectiveness if shared beyond its intended audience.
    • Serve on the Department Chair and Curriculum Committees.
    • May represent the Vice President of Instruction on internal or external committees.
    • Act as a contact point for faculty and staff regarding student success procedures, including payroll, course schedule, purchasing, and budget.
    • Oversee the preparation of the letters and mailing to all students on the Dean's List, academic probation and dismissal.
    • Coordinate/supervise the early warning process each semester.
    • Participate in graduation preparation, including coordinating the honors breakfast and the reception after graduation.
    • Oversees student groups and organizations.
    • Serve on the Clery Task Force Committee as the main student official.
    • Serve as institutional representative in all student judicial hearings.
    • Attends annual training related to sex discrimination and Title IX in order to stay abreast of new developments.
    • Responds to student relation issues such as complaints, harassment issues and civil rights complaints.
    • Serve as chief student personnel/discipline officer for the institution.
    • Presence on the job is an employee's fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction.

    Position Requirements

    Position Qualifications:

    • Master's degree required.

    • Minimum of five (5) years of community college experience. Preferred forms of experience include:

    • Teaching

    • Student Services

    • Financial Aid

    • Curriculum

    • Course Scheduling

    • Advising (career and academic)

    • Working with federal rules and regulations

    • Interaction with public school systems, universities, business, and industry.

    • Event planning

    • Demonstrated strengths in communication, teamwork, problem solving, follow-through, collegial interaction, ethical behavior, and commitment to the community college mission required.

    • Title IX training and experience preferred.

    • Assignment typically requires a detailed knowledge of the organization's operations, organizational procedures, and personnel.

    • Demonstrate ability and temperament to work with sensitive information.

    • Demonstrate interpersonal skills and proficiency in business vocabulary to effectively represent the Student Success Office and the institution to outside parties.

    • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with others in a kind and courteous manner.

    • Demonstrate attention to detail and decision-making skills to respond to high-pressure situations.

    • Demonstrate time management skills to plan, manage, and coordinate activities and major functions.

    • Demonstrated ability to use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Microsoft Office software.

    • Possess strong organizational and communication skills.

    • Ability to use independent judgment to make decisions to solve problems, organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and follow up on assignments.
