The School District of Rhinelander has an opening for a 1.0 FTE Dean of Students position at the middle school level for the 2026-2027 school year (200 day contract). The Dean of Students is a non-administrative position providing assistance to administration through the following duties:
Implementation and enforcement of the school discipline plan
Implementation and enforcement of the policies and procedures of the student handbook
Enforcement of attendance policy
Attendance at weekly truancy court
Attendance at Truancy Task Force meetings, as applicable
Coordinating and supervising after school studies
Maintaining timely and professional communication with parents/guardians regarding students of concern
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Education
Valid teachers license issued by WI Department of Instruction (DPI)
Three (3) years teaching experience, middle school experience preferred
Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education and/or Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

BASIC FUNCTION
As a professional educator, the Dean of Students understands and responds to the challenges presented by today's diverse student population.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major duties and responsibilities are dependent on the specific assignment, duties, and responsibilities as listed and may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serves as a resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students, creating a positive school climate, and helping students develop a positive self-concept.
Demonstrates ability to work successfully and positively with all students, providing them with assistance in meeting their educational needs. Coordinates, facilitates, and implements disciplinary intervention steps, and processes with staff including Restorative Practices, Responsive Classroom, and Character Strong while working closely with the building principal.
Attends and participates in various leadership team meetings and other building meetings as assigned.
Possesses the ability to interpret attendance data accurately. Coordinates, facilitates and implements attendance intervention steps, including but not limited to holding attendance conferences, making home visits, and attending court.
Demonstrates ability to communicate orally and in writing with clarity and conciseness.
Motivates students in a positive direction which will help students to increase individual decision-making responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned by the building principal or administration.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and length of contract will be established with the Board of Education.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in the workplace in conjunction with policy 3122.01.
EVALUATION:
Performance of employment responsibilities will be evaluated according to the Professional Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities schedule on a 3-year cycle.
