DEAN OF STUDENTS

JOB LOCATION: Riverside Middle School (RMS)

CERTIFICATION: Current WI DPI Teaching License - Early Adolescence- Adolescence; Administrative License (Principal) preferred

PERCENTAGE: 100%

START DATE: August 24, 2026 (new teacher orientation is August 17-20, 2026)

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Dean of Students will assist in providing a positive educational environment at Riverside Middle School. This position also involves the coordination of middle school athletics. This position is considered a non-administrative position that will serve under the direction of the building co-principals. The individual will assist in the management and improvement of student learning and behavior and support in maintaining building climate, safety, and security.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates should possess:

  • Successful teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the public.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with students.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Exceptional communication skills to support students, staff, and the greater RMS community.

The Watertown School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students taught in seven buildings. RMS provides excellent educational services to 649 students through the dedicated work of 88 staff members. RMS provides an extensive curriculum for the students, as well as an array of athletic, non-athletic, and academic co-curricular activities for students.

THE COMMUNITY: The Watertown community has 24,000 residents and is located on the Rock River approximately halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, at the junction of Highways 16, 19, and 26.
