The Operations Decision Science (ODS) team plays a critical role in enabling smarter and more efficient decisions across Delta's operations.

We are seeking a Decision Scientist to perform applied analytics and develop machine learning models. This is an excellent opportunity for early‑career professionals who want to apply analytical and engineering skills to real‑world operational challenges and learn from an experienced team of decision scientists.

What You'll Do

  • Data Science & Applied Analytics (Primary Focus)
  • Work within a team of decision scientists to develop advanced analytics solutions for complex business problems
  • Collect data and perform exploratory data analysis
  • Present analysis to business owners using concise but compelling narrative and visuals
  • Learn new techniques within cloud-based platforms

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Experience
  • Internship or professional experience in applied analytics, data science, operational analysis, or related fields
  • Technical Skills
  • Experience with Python for data manipulation, basic analytics, and / or simple simulations
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Working knowledge of machine learning libraries (Scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, etc.)
  • Soft Skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to teammates and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage time and organize tasks with guidance from senior team members
  • Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from others

  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Exposure to cloud environments like AWS preferred
  • Working knowledge of simulation techniques (Discrete event, Agent-based, etc.) preferred
