CHEST is a community -focused nonprofit working to improve health outcomes across Greater Southside San Antonio through place -based initiatives, partnerships, and culturally responsive programming. CHEST addresses social determinants of health through data -driven strategies, community engagement, and accessible health education.

About This Internship This unique, shared internship provides the opportunity to work across both organizations on a collaborative summer project focused on community health, environmental mapping, and workforce - connected learning. The intern will split time (approximately 20 hours per week each) between DHF and CHEST, gaining experience in program operations, communications, and data systems while contributing to a real -world, community -based project.

Position Description
<\/div>
The Aerospace & Community Health Program Intern will support program implementation, communications, and data tracking across both organizations. This role blends project coordination, community engagement, marketing, and data analysis, offering hands -on experience in both workforce development and public health initiatives.
<\/div>
The intern will play a key role in supporting a summer student project that uses drone technology, mapping, and data collection to better understand community conditions and inform local decision -
<\/div>
making.
<\/div>

Key Responsibilities
<\/div>
Program & Project Support (DHF + CHEST)
<\/div>
• Support coordination of the summer student project, including scheduling, logistics, and
<\/div>
communication with instructors and partners
<\/div>
• Conduct regular check -ins with program stakeholders and assist with tracking progress
<\/div>
• Assist with documentation of program activities, outcomes, and impact
<\/div>
Data, Systems & Evaluation (Primarily DHF)
<\/div>
• Support setup and organization of DHF’s Salesforce CRM for program and partner tracking
<\/div>
• Assist in developing KPI tracking systems and simple data dashboards
<\/div>
• Help collect, organize, and analyze program data for reporting and long -term tracking
<\/div>
Marketing & Communications (DHF + CHEST)
<\/div>
• Develop social media content including graphics, captions, and short -form video
<\/div>
• Assist with creation of digital materials such as flyers, newsletters, and outreach content
<\/div>
• Support bilingual (English/Spanish) messaging where appropriate
<\/div>
• Track and analyze engagement metrics to inform communication strategies
<\/div>
Community Health Communications (CHEST)
<\/div>
• Contribute to culturally responsive public health messaging and outreach campaigns
<\/div>
• Support promotion of CHEST programs, events, and resources
<\/div>
• Assist in developing communication tools that increase awareness and participation
<\/div>

Internship Deliverables
<\/div>
The intern will contribute to a set of practical, real -world deliverables, which may include:

• Program Dashboard & Data Tracking System (DHF)
<\/div>
A structured system for tracking student participation, partner engagement, and program
<\/div>
outcomes
<\/div>
• Social Media & Outreach Toolkit (CHEST + DHF)
<\/div>
A reusable content calendar, templates, and messaging framework to support ongoing
<\/div>
communications
<\/div>
• Impact Summary Report
<\/div>
A final report summarizing program outcomes, engagement metrics, and recommendations for
<\/div>
future improvement
<\/div>
• Branding & Communications Guide (Optional/Stretch)
<\/div>
A guide supporting consistent messaging, tone, and outreach strategies across programs
<\/div>

<\/div>
Preferred Qualifications
<\/div>
• Current college or graduate student in public health, communications, business, nonprofit
<\/div>
management, or a related field
<\/div>
• Strong organizational and project management skills
<\/div>
• Experience with social media platforms and tools such as Canva
<\/div>
• Interest in data, systems, or CRM tools (Salesforce experience is a plus but not required)
<\/div>
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
<\/div>
• Interest in community health, education, workforce development, or nonprofit work
<\/div>
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
<\/div>
