PurposeThe Deli Leader ensures the store's deli department operates at the standards set by the company, driving sales and maximizing profitability. The Deli leader delivers the highest level of customer service and satisfaction by following the company's Deli's production and planning standards. The Deli leader demonstrates excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and commitment to the success of the team.Responsibilities

Works under the direction of the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager and follows direction with the Meat SpecialistResponsible for leading the performance of the deli department to achieve and exceed metric goalsResponsibilities include incorporating and adhering to all safety and sanitation standards and expectations, product ordering, merchandising, productivity and maintaining control of shrink to meet company and business unit goalsResponsible for coaching and training others who complete deli related tasks within the deli departmentSets and executes all work priorities and directs the assignment of individual tasks within the deli departmentResponsible for enforcing deli policies and procedures within assigned storeUses knives, slicers, ovens, stoves, fryers and other utensils or power equipment in accordance to company policies.Ensures displays and case signs are updated appropriately, and deli product is presented to maximize salesMaintains proper date rotation for dated and undated products per company policy, both in the display case and in the storage coolerPrepares and places deli cuts and prepared deli products in display counter according to company policy & procedures so they will appear attractive and appealing to the customersBags, packages both hot and cold deli products in accordance to company standardsLabels packages according to COOL, USDA and company standardsReceives and inspects deli product upon delivery, to maintain cold chain and ensure meat qualityEnsures excellent sanitation and quality standards are met daily and adhered to per company policyResponsible for following and executing all company policies and procedures which includes but is not limited to: COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, Meat/Produce Scale operation, Mark Downs, Inventory Processes, Daily Manager Signoff and Deli production listResponsibilities may include other perishable and non-perishable related duties necessary to maintain optimal store performanceProtects company property, funds and merchandiseMay be assigned to work in more than one store and other areas of the store

About You

Must be 18 years of ageHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredOne year of previous experience hot and cold deli production including using hand tools and power equipment, such as knives, slicers, ovens, stoves, fryers, mixers preferredCompany work history will be strongly considered, including attendance, work performance, safety, policy compliance and performance managementProficiency in basic math skills required, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionMust be able to read, write and speak in English. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills. Language proficiency in Spanish or other languages is a plusMust be dependable and flexible, including a willingness to work in other areas of the store as needed with little or no advance noticeExcellent customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving skillsMust adhere to uniform dress code

Physical Requirements

Most work is performed in a fluctuating environment. Must be able to work in either hot or cold conditions.Requires the ability to reach, bend, twist, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing up to 30 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift; at times, product weight may reach 100 poundsRequires the ability to move heavy product with assistanceMust have the ability to stand, walk and / or move about for extended periods of timeRequires the ability to push, pull, grasp, for extended periods of time
