Deli Manager

Job Purpose:
- The Deli Manager at Hugo's Family Marketplace is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the deli department, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, and driving sales and profitability. This role involves managing a team, optimizing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The Deli Manager will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming environment for customers and fostering a productive and positive workplace for staff.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Develop and manage employee schedules.
- Oversee merchandising activities.
- Conduct training sessions for staff.
- Manage ordering processes..
- Implement and maintain inventory control measures.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, conducting regular inspections and audits.
- Supervise food preparation activities.
- Perform bookwork, administrative tasks, recording of sales, expenses, and inventory.
- Execute supervisory duties, performance evaluations and conflict resolution.

Required Education:
- High school diploma or GED

Preferred Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in food service management, culinary arts, business, or retail management
- Food safety certifications (ServSafe, local health department certifications)

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a deli, grocery, or food service environment

Preferred Experience:
- 3–5+ years of deli or food service experience
- Prior supervisory or management experience
- Experience with scheduling, inventory control, and ordering
- Experience enforcing food safety and sanitation standards
