The Deli Steward is instrumental in training Deli staff for all Deli programs. This position will work closely with the Deli Leadership team to maintain current best-practice information and implement provided training guidelines to Deli employees.

Main Job Responsibilities:
Act as a knowledge guide for new and current staff, providing training, information, and tools for success through provided, pre-determined materials and through collaboration with the Deli Leadership team
Maintain expertise in all Front of House Deli practices and procedures including but not limited to customer service standards, cleanliness, sanitation, and safety. Specific knowledge areas should include Pizza station, Deli Service Counter, Espresso, Sandwich, and Salad
Model a high level of skill around customer service and work responsibilities
Ensure a welcoming training and onboarding experience for all new Deli staff by communicating clearly and kindly, providing adequate and focused time for skill building and adapting to various learning styles and skill levels
Coach and provide feedback to current staff, including in the moment training to provide ongoing improvement in team member proficiencies
Share updates about individual training results and performance with members of Deli Leadership team
Provide feedback to Deli Leadership and Deli Operations as requested around the training tools themselves, including opportunities for improvement
Follow all training outlines provided, including sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards
Other tasks as assigned that fall within Deli Clerk job responsibilities
Qualifications and Skills:
REQUIRED:
Successful experience training, coaching, sharing skills and assessing proficiency in a food service / retail atmosphere. This should include both work with new team members as well as ongoing training
Experience training in a collaborative environment, including utilizing guides and pre-determined content as tools for knowledge sharing
Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment
Strong time management and creative problem-solving skills
Exceptional level of performance in current role including consistently providing excellent, professional customer service and demonstrating knowledge of health and safety codes
Demonstrated proficiency in all relevant front of house Deli department practices or equivalent external experience
Open availability to accommodate flexible scheduling needs for training includingmornings, evenings, weekdays, and weekends
Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and lifting 10-40lbs regularly
A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
