Organizational Summary:
MA'O Organic Farms (MA'O), located in Lualualei Valley, Waianae, is a social enterprise of the Waianae Community Re-Development Corporation (WCRC), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Established in 2000, MA'O grows organic food and new leaders for a sustainable Hawaii. For the first 18-years in operation MA'O managed 24-acres of certified organic land, now we’ve grown to 280-acres in Lualualei Valley. This new aina presents a huge kuleana - to manage land and water with aloha, and to radically increase the production of nutritious local organic food, while empowering a new generation of leaders to serve Hawaii nei.
Position Summary:
The Delivery Driver is a critical team member responsible for ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely distribution of fresh, high-quality certified organic fruits and vegetables. This role directly supports MA'O's farm operations by facilitating smooth and reliable deliveries to co-producers (customers), including restaurants, grocery stores, natural food retailers, CSA host sites, farmers markets, community partners, and other designated delivery locations across Oahu.
In addition to completing deliveries in a timely and professional manner, this position supports the accurate loading and unloading of produce, maintenance of delivery vehicles and related operational spaces, customer service, produce processing, order preparation, and broader farm operations.
While delivery and logistics are the primary focus of the role, the position also functions as a support-level farm operations role and assists with broader farm, harvest, processing, and production operations on non-delivery days, consistent with operational needs, training, safety requirements, and role classification.

Must be available to work holidays, Saturdays, occasional Sundays, early mornings, extended shifts, or modified schedules based on operational, seasonal, staffing, or organizational needs.
Standard shifts are generally scheduled from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, including a 30 minute/1 hour unpaid meal period.

- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Non-delivery operational support days
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivery Day Operations (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
- Review and inspect delivery orders, invoices, CSA lists, and related documentation to ensure accurate and complete shipments prior to departure.
- Load and organize delivery vehicles strategically to minimize product damage, maintain produce quality, and support efficient unloading at delivery locations.
- Safely deliver produce and related products to designated delivery locations across Oahu in a timely and professional manner.
- Confirm deliveries by distributing invoices to designated receiving personnel, obtaining signatures or confirmations as required, and returning completed delivery documentation to designated staff or collection locations at the end of each delivery day.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with customers, receiving personnel, co-producers, chefs, vendors, community partners, and staff during deliveries and operational interactions.
- Document and report delivery-related concerns, including invoicing discrepancies, produce quality concerns, inventory discrepancies, customer concerns, delivery delays, or vehicle-related issues.
- Collect, transport, and return reusable delivery bins and related delivery materials from customer and delivery locations to designated receiving or storage areas.
- Clean and sanitize reusable delivery bins and related delivery equipment to support operational readiness for upcoming processing and delivery days.
- Support alternate delivery routes and other operational delivery needs, as assigned.
- Assist in training staff on delivery procedures, routes, safety expectations, and operational workflows, as assigned.
- Perform routine cleaning, sanitation, and operational maintenance of chiller spaces, including pallets, dollies, tables, floors, and related operational areas, to support food safety, organization, and operational readiness.
- Monitor and support the cleanliness, organization, and basic operational upkeep of chiller units and related storage areas, reporting maintenance or operational concerns to the designated supervisor or manager, as needed.
- Accurately complete and submit required maintenance, cleaning, and operational logs in accordance with organizational procedures and food safety requirements.
Non-Delivery Day Operations (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
- Support farm staff in preparing, packing, organizing, and staging produce orders for delivery.
- Assist with produce processing operations, including washing, sorting, packing, labeling, and organizing produce in accordance with food safety and quality standards.
- Support packing shed operations by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and operational readiness, including cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, harvest bins, wash stations, tables, floors, tools, and shared operational areas.
- Assist with produce organization, inventory staging, and operational preparation for upcoming deliveries and harvest activities.
- Support same-day or special-request deliveries, including deliveries for community partners, co-producers, operational needs, or other time-sensitive delivery requests, as assigned.
- Support general farm operations, processing activities, and operational tasks based on organizational needs, training, safety requirements, and role classification.
Vehicle & Equipment Responsibilities
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to monitor cleanliness, operational safety, fluid levels, tire condition, and overall vehicle readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles, chillers, loading spaces, and related operational areas.
- Refuel delivery vehicles as needed and submit fuel receipts and related documentation to the designated Office Administrator, Manager, or supervisor.
- Support maintenance, cleanliness, inspection, and compliance activities for delivery vehicles.
- Assist with vehicle compliance requirements, including safety inspections, registration renewals, and related operational documentation, as assigned.
- Transport delivery vehicles for scheduled maintenance, servicing, repairs, or oil changes, as directed.
- Accurately complete and submit vehicle inspection logs, maintenance logs, fuel documentation, and other required operational records.
- Operate farm vehicles, trailers, tractors, loaders, or other equipment as authorized, trained, certified, and/or licensed, if applicable.
Harvest & Production Support
- Transport harvested produce between designated farm and operational locations as assigned.
- Serve as backup support for harvest transportation and operational driving needs as assigned.
- Assist with harvest, production, and general farm operations based on operational needs and training.
- Operate farm vehicles or other equipment as authorized, trained, certified, and/or licensed.
- Support harvest vehicle cleaning, maintenance, and basic operational readiness.
General Duties & Core Responsibilities
- Uphold organic certification standards, food safety protocols, and food quality expectations in accordance with MA'O Organic Farms’ policies and training.
- Work both collaboratively with a team and independently, as assigned, to support organic farming operations.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safe use of farm vehicles, equipment, tools, and workspaces. Operation of vehicles, machinery, chainsaws, or power tools is performed only as authorized, trained, and licensed (if applicable to assigned duties) and in accordance with safety policies.
- Maintain the cleanliness of shared and collective spaces, which may include break areas, parking lots, restroom facilities or portable restrooms, tool sheds, and surrounding work areas. Assist with managing trash and recyclables in accordance with farm practices.
- Support cross-functional farm operations as assigned, including assisting in different work areas based on operational needs and training, consistent with safety requirements and role classification.
- Support end-of-day security procedures by ensuring farm tools, equipment, vehicles, tractors, facilities, and gates are properly secured.
- Use digital tools and software, as required and/or provided by the organization, to support communication, coordination, documentation, and operations. This may include email, mobile devices, farm management or scheduling software, point-of-sale tablets, and platforms such as Microsoft products, Google Workspace, Slack, WhatsApp, and the organization’s HRIS.
- Participate in required food safety and organic certification audits, trainings, and inspections, as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with training, safety requirements, and operational needs.

- Support the training and evaluation of the farm’s youth interns in production operations.

Required Experience & Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework, vocational training, or postsecondary education preferred.
- At least two (2) years of progressive experience in delivery driving, logistics, agriculture, food processing, warehouse operations, produce distribution, or a closely related operational setting.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience operating delivery vehicles, cube trucks, box trucks, or other large vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining organization, reliability, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow food safety, sanitation, operational, and quality standards across multiple work areas.
- Demonstrated ability to safely perform the physical demands of the role, as outlined in the Physical Requirements section, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to use digital tools and software for communication, coordination, documentation, and operational tracking, with training provided as needed.
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and responsible driving history required for authorized work-related driving tasks and operational responsibilities, including transporting interns, supplies, or materials using MA'O-provided or approved vehicles.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have:
- Three (3) or more years of experience in delivery driving, agriculture, food systems, food processing, produce distribution, warehouse operations, or related hands-on work environments.
- College coursework, certifications, or training in agriculture, food systems, logistics, transportation, sustainability, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- Experience taking on lead or coordination responsibilities within a team setting (e.g., training others, supporting delivery coordination, route organization, workflow coordination, or supporting operational task organization).
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting youth, interns, or early-career staff in hands-on operational or agricultural environments.
- Familiarity with organic certification standards, food safety protocols, produce handling requirements, sanitation procedures, and/or cold storage practices.
- Interest in or demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, sustainability, and resilience within Hawaii’s food system and rural communities, particularly in the Leeward Oahu region.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to remain professional and solution-oriented in fast-paced operational and public-facing environments.
Work Environment:
Work conditions may include:
- Frequent local travel and driving between farm sites, customer locations, community sites, delivery routes, and operational areas across Oahu, including extended periods of vehicle operation and loading/unloading activities.
- Outdoor and indoor work environments, including exposure to sun, rain, wind, dust, mud, uneven terrain, insects, and cool, wet, or damp processing conditions involving water, ice, and approved cleaning agents in a fast-paced, high-volume workflow.
- Work performed across multiple settings, which may include fields, processing facilities, farmers markets, community sites, and shared indoor or administrative spaces, depending on assigned duties and operational needs.
- Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, aprons, hairnets, hats, and appropriate footwear, to support safety and hygiene.
- A physically demanding, team-oriented environment with shifting priorities, seasonal workload fluctuations, and periods of independent work.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:
- Ability to safely load, unload, transport, and maneuver produce bins, delivery materials, equipment, and operational supplies during deliveries and farm operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing, or reaching.
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina for repetitive operational tasks, including harvesting, loading/unloading, lifting bins, delivery support, sanitation, and general farm work.
- Safe operation of farm tools and vehicles (e.g., hand tools, harvest bins, tractors, box trucks).
- Ability to work safely in close proximity with others while maintaining situational awareness.
- Visual and auditory ability to safely operate in a dynamic and labor-intensive environment.

Employment and Compensation:
Classification: Regular Full-Time (32 to 40 hours/week)
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime)
Range: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
Final compensation will be based on experience, education, and internal equity.
Payroll Frequency: Semi-monthly (2x per month)
