The Delivery Driver shall be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of product to customers.  These duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Delivering product to customers as assigned and as per the daily route sheet, ensuring accurate stock is loaded, correctly wrapped and secured on the trucks daily. 

  • Follow all Delivery & Invoicing standard operating procedures (SOPs). 

  • Provide guidance and instruction to the Delivery Assistant in carrying out deliveries. 

  • Ensure the safety of the distribution process through following all safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and reporting unsafe behaviours and conditions and closing gaps when they occur.  

  • Ensuring that the correct code is applied for each product. 

  • Ensure all cancellations are reported using the correct reason for cancellation (designated whatsapp chat). 

  • Recording all sales in the Hand-Held device under the appropriate and accurate customer name. 

  • Providing each customer with a valid payment receipt invoice when goods have been delivered. 

  • Ensuring that all Void Bills are returned with the day’s work. 

  • Ensuring that on return to the Loading Bay, any returns are accurately accounted for. 

  • Ensuring Daily Cash settlements are accurately completed on return to the client, and that all monies collected on behalf of the client are accounted for. 

  • Reporting to Dispatch for Truck pick-up and final instructions for the day’s deliveries. 

  • Accurately completing the vehicle inspection checklist at the beginning of each shift and on returning to the compound. 

  • Checking assigned delivery vehicle to ensure that it is in proper working condition e.g. replenished with water, oil etc. at the commencement of each shift and reporting any defects or malfunctioning of the delivery vehicle immediately to the Supervisor. 

  • Driving the vehicle in a safe and courteous manner at all times, obeying all traffic regulations and the designated speed limit of 60 km/hr. 

  • Demonstrating sound house-keeping practices and maintaining a level of cleanliness in the cab of the vehicle.  

  • Ultimately responsible for the truck, its inventory, all cash, cheques and charge receipts. 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • A sound secondary education with 5 CXC Certifications including English and Mathematics 

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience driving a heavy-duty truck (2 Ton).  

  • A valid Heavy-Duty License and a clean driving record. 

 

Skills/Core Competencies 

  • A self-motivated, deadline driven individual

  • Sound numeracy and basic math/consumer math skills 

  • Good interpersonal skills 

  • Good Communication skills 

  • Good knowledge of geographic Barbados 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 40lbs comfortably 

  • Be capable of stepping up and down from height of a truck or loading platform 

  • Reaching and bending over will be required 

  • Be capable of maneuvering with a trolley or other assistive device
