JOB DESCRIPTION

The Delivery - Lead Consultant is responsible for leading complex, customized and comprehensive engagements to ensure project profitability, success, and client satisfaction. These activities include supervisory and management responsibilities for internal teams and project resources. This role is a senior-level customer-facing consulting position responsible for project success and business growth. As a seasoned project manager, this role will be assigned to Apex projects that may be highly complex, large, highly visible and/or otherwise require advanced project and people management skills, advanced financial and risk management skills and Consulting proficiency.

Reporting to a Capability aligned Delivery - Practice Director, this position is highly collaborative, as Apex Engagements require participation and collaboration from a variety of different roles within Apex and the client, and Delivery - Lead Consultant must be able to successfully navigate these relational and operational complexities. The Lead Consultant role involves client relationship building, executive level communications, presentations, reviewing and monitoring quality of client deliverables, supervising project teams, and scoping and estimating new projects. In addition to directly supervising delivery Practice employees, this role also leverages their skills and experience to contribute towards developing, mentoring and supporting the growth of other entry level through midcareer professionals within the Delivery Practice.

Project Delivery & Oversight

• Lead the client and Apex through the Project Kick-off (Launch) process and EDRM review. Ensure quality and accuracy of project workflows and operating procedures related to all aspects of the project including monitoring and tracking. Coordinate stakeholders to ensure team members take ownership of the relevant tasks and expectations.
• Manage the day-to-day project delivery and Project Team resources from origination to completion. Accountable for staffing planning, selection, hiring, project onboarding, performance management, general employee relations, corrective action, and offboarding in close collaboration with Talent Strategy, Account Leadership, IPCs, and Delivery - Analysts.
• Manage client expectations and related client communications, usually in conjunction with internal client leadership team. Provide detailed tracking of Tasks and Deliverables associated with assigned projects. Complete and submit project deliverables and milestones and obtain client acceptance, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Provide status reports of work on all active projects. Manage scope and financials for project(s) as well as assisting in keeping the project on track for time, budget, and deliverables.
• Assess, analyze, and resolve complex project issues, problems and/or challenges.
• Schedule and facilitate Internal Business Reviews and internal cadences with stakeholders and collaborate effectively to manage quality of delivery.
• Establish and lead project cadences with the client including reviews of project status, deliverables, overall project heath, issues, and risks, etc. Schedule and facilitate client business reviews.
• At project closing, schedule and facilitate internal and external retrospectives and other closing items, tasks, or objectives at project end.
• Develop and sustain trusted advisor relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This position may require occasional travel to client, project, or internal stakeholder locations.

Project Financial Management

In collaboration with Project Control, the Delivery - Lead Consultant is responsible for:

• Monitor financial health of the project and ensure that the approved financial targets are achieved.
• Monitor and update pricing sheets as necessary through collaboration with Project Accounting.
• Oversee time charges, expenses, and billings on assigned projects; time and expense reporting and tracking against budgets.
• Monitor AR Aging report and resolve or escalate issues as needed.
• Ensure project expenses are submitted timely and correctly as needed.
• Communicate Work-At-Risk requests and updates.
• Responsible (either directly or indirectly) for VMS management (milestones, invoicing, financial reconciliation, managing client system hours and monitoring the EPC to ensure budget and contract limits are up to date).
• Verify with internal billing team that all invoices have been submitted and paid upon project closing.
• Develop and prepare a variety of reports related to the project delivery, project status, budget, forecast, contract employees, metrics and KPIs, etc.

Project Risk Management

• Monitor Contract Compliance.
• Manage change orders as needed including the CLM process and proactive and collaborative communication regarding status and execution.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of engagement work papers.
• Own and maintain project risk registers, ensuring timely identification, documentation, and escalation of risks across all phases of delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective risk mitigation and contingency plans.
• Monitor and report on risk status and trends, providing regular updates to stakeholders and Apex leadership.
• Facilitate risk review sessions and ensure alignment with organizational risk management frameworks and compliance standards.

Sales & Project Management Practice Support

• Provide sales and proposal leadership including participating in client advisory and scoping meetings, providing guidance on team structure, milestone and deliverable definitions, and proposal or Statement of Work development.
• Provide delivery practice leadership within the practice and in the broader organization with key internal stakeholders and audiences. Act as a consultant and advisor internally and externally in support of business growth and success.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports, supporting their professional growth in technical, solution, and framework expertise. Leverage internal and external resources to enhance skill and competence.
• Contribute to the development of the Delivery Practice through a variety of activities and initiatives enhancing the business.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree with concentration in Business, Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience; MBA preferred.
• 5 years of project or engagement management experience in Consulting or Professional Services (or similar); technology consulting experience preferred
• Demonstrated advanced people management skills and extensive experience successfully managing large teams and complex projects, including experience managing and coaching individual performance.
• Experience as a direct supervisor or manager of full time internal employees highly preferred.
• Demonstrated advanced consulting skills, with the ability to provide strategic thought leadership and guidance to clients and account and sales teams regarding proposals and statements of work during engagement pursuits.
• Experience managing, setting priorities, solving complex problems, and selling in a consultative role.
• Demonstrated advanced level Project Management skills. Understanding and knowledge of Project Management principles, methodologies, and alternative delivery approaches, such as Agile.
• Demonstrated advanced level understanding of and skill managing to professional services contracts of varying risk and complexity including time and materials, fixed fee, and deliverables-based or milestone- based projects.
• Demonstrated advanced level customer relationship management skills and experience.
• Results oriented with a high sense of urgency to meet client requirements.
• Demonstrated advanced level presentation and executive communication skills.
• Demonstrated advanced level client-facing customer service and stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop and manage relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated advanced level skills leading with and through influence across complex matrixed organizational structures.
• Experience with project/program portfolio management, tracking, and collaboration tools such as: Service Now, Workday, Clarity, HP PPM, PlanView, SharePoint, MS Project, Jira, ADO, Mural, etc.
• Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint advanced features.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and deadline driven culture.
• Demonstrated experience successfully implementing process improvement, with advanced level process improvement skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and advanced level organization, planning, time management and communication skills, including written and interpersonal.
• Advanced level workforce management skills including HR fundamentals, hiring, selection, onboarding, offboarding, compliance and performance management.
