JOB VACANCY: Third Grade Teacher

POSITION OVERVIEW

Delta Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered, and highly effective educator to serve as a First Grade Teacher. The successful candidate will provide standards-based instruction that develops foundational literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies skills while fostering the social, emotional, and academic growth of young learners.

The First Grade Teacher will utilize Louisiana Student Standards, High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), evidence-based instructional strategies, and data-driven decision-making to ensure all students achieve academic success. The teacher will establish a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes high expectations, student achievement, and family engagement.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Employment Type: Full-Time 9-Month Contract

Salary: In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction using district-adopted High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
  • Implement Louisiana Student Standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Provide systematic, explicit instruction in foundational literacy skills aligned with Louisiana literacy initiatives and the Science of Reading.
  • Develop and maintain a positive classroom environment.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Utilize assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Implement PBIS practices.
  • Collaborate with staff to improve student outcomes.
  • Participate in PLCs and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Integrate instructional technology.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
  • Establish positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Comply with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Maintain a professional growth plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate or eligibility through an approved pathway.
  • Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards and elementary instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze student data.
  • Technology proficiency.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to professional growth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master''s Degree in Education or related field.
  • One or more years of successful elementary teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching Grades K-2.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction.
  • Experience implementing HQIM.
  • Experience with MTSS, RTI, and interventions.
  • Title I experience preferred.
