POSITION OVERVIEW
Delta Elementary School is seeking a highly effective, student-centered educator to serve as a 5th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher. The successful candidate will provide rigorous, standards-based literacy instruction designed to develop students'' reading, writing, speaking, listening, language, and critical thinking skills.
The 5th Grade ELA Teacher will implement Louisiana Student Standards and district-adopted High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) while creating a learning environment that promotes literacy growth, academic excellence, student engagement, and college and career readiness.
EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
Employment Type: Full-Time 9-Month Contract
Salary: In accordance with the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and applicable state guidelines

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction using district-adopted High-
Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) for English Language Arts.
- Implement Louisiana Student Standards for English Language Arts.
- Provide explicit instruction in reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, grammar, speaking, listening, and language development.
- Utilize evidence-based literacy practices consistent with Louisiana literacy initiatives.
- Differentiate instruction to address the diverse academic needs of all learners.
- Analyze assessment data to guide instruction and improve student achievement.
- Develop and maintain a positive classroom climate.
- Implement PBIS expectations.
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff.
- Participate in PLCs and professional development.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Integrate instructional technology.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
- Build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA.
- Maintain a professional growth plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited college or university.• Valid Louisiana Teaching • • • • Certificate or eligibility through an approved pathway.
- Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards and elementary instructional practices.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze student data.
- Technology proficiency.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to professional growth.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Education, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
- One or more years of successful teaching experience.
- Experience teaching upper elementary ELA.
- Knowledge of HQIM.
- Experience with literacy interventions, MTSS, and RTI.
- Experience in a Title I school environment
