Orthodontic Sterilization Technician and Assistant
Carlsbad, CA
We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented team member to join our modern, high-tech orthodontic practice! This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying busy, loves working with people, and is eager to learn and grow in orthodontics.
Rather than traditional chairside assisting, this role focuses on sterilization, patient records, digital imaging, and supporting the clinical team. If you have dental assisting experience and a positive attitude, we'd love to train the right person!
Schedule
- 3 days per week
- Rotating Monday–Wednesday or Tuesday–Thursday
- 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Duties & Responsibilities
- Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols
- Set up trays and treatment rooms for patient appointments
- Take CBCT scans and digital photographs
- Use an intraoral scanner for digital impressions (no traditional molds)
- Assist with 3D printing of retainers and appliances
- Provide patients with oral hygiene and orthodontic care instructions
- Manage lab cases and clinical supplies
- Support the clinical team wherever needed to help keep the office running smoothly
Requirements
- X-ray certification required
- Dental assisting experience preferred (orthodontic, general, or specialty)
- Willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Team player with a positive attitude
- CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
