Dental Assistant
Location: New York, NY
Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00/hr – $35.00/hr
Shift & Schedule: Monday–Friday | 37.5 Hours/Week
We are seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to support dental professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. The Dental Assistant will assist with patient preparation, chairside procedures, radiography, instrument sterilization, record maintenance, and overall clinical operations within a fast-paced dental environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong patient care skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of infection control and safety.
• Prepare patients for dental examinations and treatments.
• Assist dentists during chairside procedures and treatments.
• Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
• Take, develop, and mount dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Mix dental materials including amalgams, cements, and composites.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
• Perform assigned laboratory procedures.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization, and safety standards.
• Maintain treatment rooms and dental equipment.
• Support clinic workflow and patient scheduling activities.
• Assist in providing a positive patient experience throughout treatment.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of at least 600 instructional hours from an approved Dental Assistant program; OR
• Completion of at least 300 instructional hours from an approved Dental Assistant program plus 6 months of Dental Assistant experience performing dental radiographs, chairside assisting, and instrument sterilization using an autoclave; OR
• High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year of full-time Dental Assistant experience performing dental radiographs, chairside assisting, and instrument sterilization duties.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology.
• Experience taking dental radiographs.
• Strong patient care and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Strong attention to detail and infection control practices.
