    Description

    PURPOSE: Help dentist with clinical work, supervise the dental assistants at all sites. provide a link between the patients, materials management, and quality control.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Clinical Responsibilities

    • Clinical assisting.
    • Taking diagnostic radiographs.
    • Escort patients to and from the waiting area.
    • Verify patient's medications, allergies, and health history and notify the dentist of any significant findings.
    • Ensure patients complete preprocedural mouth rinse when indicated.
    • Verify lab cases, implant components, and required instruments are available prior to treatment.
    • Pack, receive, and manage lab cases.
    • Prepare operatories for daily patient care and the following day's schedule.
    • Perform operatory cleaning and turnover between patients.
    • Perform dental unit waterline flushing and maintenance as required.

    Administrative Responsibilities

    • Biweekly/ monthly visits to all sites to oversee operations.
    • Supervise proper cleaning, sterilization, storage, and maintenance of dental instruments.
    • Oversee maintenance and monitoring of sterilizers, and other clinical equipment and maintain proper records.
    • Coordinate equipment maintenance and vendor service requests.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CDC, state regulations, and infection control standards.
    • Order, inventory, and maintain dental supplies for all three sites, sharing when necessary to avoid overstocking.
    • Develop and manage monthly and daily dental assistant schedules for all three sites plus SBHC, coordinating with staffing vacation, holiday, sick leave.
    • Supervise dental assistant workflow and daily clinical operations.
    • Recruit, interview, and assist with hiring dental assistants.
    • Maintain an on the job training (OJT) program for dental assistants.
    • Train, orient, and evaluate newly hired dental assistants.
    • Develop, conduct and maintain competency checklists, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
    • Review and approve dental assistant timesheets.
    • Conduct annual performance evaluations for dental assistants.
    • Address employee performance issues and disciplinary actions in collaboration with the Practice Manager and Human Resources.
    • Identify staff training needs.
    • Participate in quality improvement, infection control, and regulatory compliance activities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Director
    • Administrative: 10 hours/week
    • Clinical: 30 hours/week

    Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must be a licensed dental assistant in MA. Must have minimum of (2) years experience as a dental assistant. 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred. Radiology certification or course according to MA requirements.

    Must meet the Dental Assistant Competency Checklist with a minimum score of 3.5
