Description

The ETSU College of Nursing, Office of Practice invites applications for a full-time Dental Clinic Supervisor.

The Dental Clinic Supervisor plans, directs, and oversees the daily administrative and operational functions of the Johnson City Community Health Center Dental Clinic to ensure efficient clinic operations, exceptional patient service, and effective support for providers and staff.

This position supervises office personnel, manages scheduling, budgets, inventory, and administrative processes, and ensures compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of dental clinic operations, patient scheduling, and front office operations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, payer requirements, and appointment scheduling practices that support efficient clinic operations.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, and basic financial management principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and funding requirements related to dental clinic operations.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems, Microsoft Office applications, and other business software.
  • Skill in supervising, training, coaching, and evaluating staff while fostering a collaborative and customer-focused work environment.
  • Skill in developing provider schedules and coordinating patient appointments to maximize clinic efficiency and access to care.
  • Skill in analyzing operational processes and implementing improvements to enhance workflow and productivity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, providers, faculty, staff, vendors, and external partners.
  • Ability to lead daily clinic operations while balancing competing priorities and meeting organizational deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, faculty, staff, and vendors.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement process improvements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of relevant Dental Office experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Services Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Health Sciences, or a related field.

OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience in Eaglesoft Practice Management Software.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting objects of up to 25 pounds.
  • Carrying files, equipment, or supplies short distances.
  • Frequent typing or keyboard use.
  • Visual acuity to read printed and electronic materials.

  • Speaking clearly in noisy environments.
  • Twisting torso or neck.
  • Repetitive wrist or arm movements.
  • Remaining in one position for extended periods of time.

The College of Nursing is part of the University's Academic Health Sciences Center, which also includes the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Public Health, and the College of Health Sciences. The nurse-led clinics under the College of Nursing feature four Federally Qualified Health Centers and two Student Health Clinics. The largest Community Health Center in Johnson City provides primary care, behavioral health care, pediatrics, and women''s health with an on-site Dental Clinic, Radiology Department, Lab, and Charitable Pharmacy. Area unhoused individuals receive a continuum of services at the Downtown Day Center. Two school-based clinics in Hancock County provide care for students, staff, and the surrounding community. ETSU students and staff are served by the University Health Center on campus, while the nurse clinic at University School serves that population. The College of Nursing Community Health Centers have received federal funding for more than 30 years, accepting all patients regardless of their ability to pay.
