Clinical Excellence & Student Mentorship

Are you looking for a fulfilling way to use your dental expertise beyond traditional practice?

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Clinical Dentist to support our Dental Hygiene Program at our Albuquerque campus for 16 hours per week. In this vital part-time role, you will provide essential clinical oversight while collaborating with students, instructors, and clinical staff in a dynamic educational environment.

If you are a licensed dentist passionate about mentorship, ready to ensure high-quality patient care, and eager to help shape the next generation of dental professionals, we encourage you to apply!

A Day in the Life

As a Clinical Dentist in our hygiene clinic, your expertise bridges clinical care and student learning.

During your 16 weekly clinic hours, you will oversee patient exams, evaluate student progress during clinical procedures, prescribe diagnostic care, and step in to guide student hygienists through complex cases. You'll play a direct role in creating a safe, high-standard clinical learning environment for our students and community patients alike.

You'll Have the Opportunity To:

  • Provide clinical oversight and comprehensive dental services within the campus hygiene clinic.

  • Supervise and mentor student dental hygienists and dental assistant externs during clinical practice.

  • Prescribe and oversee radiographic and diagnostic services in compliance with New Mexico State Board regulations.

  • Deliver didactic and lab instruction as assigned by the Program Director.

  • Supervise care during medical emergencies and maintain clinic safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with program leadership and participate in faculty meetings, clinical updates, and in-service training.

Who Thrives in This Role?

You are a licensed dentist who takes pride in high clinical standards and loves helping others grow. This 16-hour/week schedule is ideal if you are looking to balance your private practice schedule, step back from full-time practice ownership, or transition your clinical expertise into higher education.

You possess strong interpersonal skills, a patient-centered approach to care, and enthusiasm for guiding future healthcare professionals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.

  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical dental experience preferred.

  • Leadership Skills: Prior experience in a clinical teaching, supervisory, or mentoring role is highly desirable.

  • Communication & Tech: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with computer applications.

Why Pima Medical Institute?

Make a lasting impact on the dental hygiene community while enjoying a supportive, collaborative environment. As part of our 100% employee-owned college, you'll also have the opportunity to share in the success of the institution you help build.

About Company

Pima Medical Institute started changing lives in 1972 when Richard Luebke Sr. and his wife, JoAnn, brought to life their dream of providing quality medical career education. They opened the first campus in Tucson, Arizona, preparing students to become nursing assistants. Eventually Richard Luebke Jr. and Mark Luebke took the helm, introducing more programs and opening additional campus locations to meet the country’s growing demand for quality healthcare professionals.

In 2015, Fred Freedman became Pima Medical’s President and Chief Executive Officer after serving the college as Chief Operating Officer. He has been with Pima Medical since June of 2000. He’s leading Pima Medical into the future, with growth, innovation and a keen eye on what healthcare providers need in great employees. We encourage you to become part of the Pima Medical Institute family, where you can help make a difference in the lives of our students today and educate future professionals.

As our community of students continues to grow, so does our community of talented staff. We truly believe that our people are the heart of our organization, and as we grow, we continue to hold ourselves accountable to the values that support those people.
