The Dental Hygienist will provide comprehensive preventive dental hygiene services while educating patients and supporting their overall oral health. Responsibilities include:
Welcome and prepare patients for dental hygiene appointments
Perform comprehensive oral health screenings and dental hygiene assessments
Evaluate patients for signs of periodontal disease, gingivitis, and other oral health conditions
Provide professional dental cleanings and appropriate preventive hygiene procedures
Take and review dental X-rays as permitted by state regulations and practice protocols
Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, and overall oral hygiene practices
Provide personalized recommendations for maintaining optimal oral health
Document patient treatment, findings, and recommendations accurately in the dental practice management system
Follow OSHA, CDC, and office infection control and sterilization protocols
Properly sterilize and maintain dental hygiene instruments and equipment
Collaborate with dentists and the dental team to provide comprehensive patient care
Maintain a professional, compassionate, and patient-centered approach throughout each appointment
Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program
Current and valid Alaska Dental Hygiene License
Current CPR/BLS certification, as required
Strong knowledge of dental hygiene procedures and infection control standards
Familiarity with dental practice management software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care
Compassionate chairside manner and ability to build trust with patients
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative dental team
