The purpose of an instructor at the Central Carolina Community College is to ensure maximum student learning. The instructor accomplishes this by presenting discipline specific learning outcomes through lecture, demonstration, projects, assignments, appropriate classroom management, etc. and by providing authentic student assessment that documents learning has occurred.

The Dental Programs Instructor will teach the clinical component of the curriculum designed to help students build clinical skills aimed at passing the state and national exams for Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene.

• Please include unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Will be required to submit official copies of transcripts before start date.

• This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required.

• This position requires face to face teaching.

Essential Duties

• Use teaching methodology that incorporates a dynamic instructional environment that promotes a positive, interactive, and inclusive learning experience for all students.
• Ensure collaboration, mutual respect, cooperation, and harmonious relationships between and among administrators, faculty, students, staff, and alumni.
• Assist in maintaining department equipment, supplies, and materials, and support resources.
• Follow departmental policies and policies stated in the policies and procedures manual as it relates to instructor responsibilities.
• Participate in department meetings, advisory board meetings, and other college meetings and activities.
• Actively participate in professional organizations.
• Maintain current industry licensure and credentials, including earning annual CME/CEUs.
• Be responsible for and perform other such duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Required Educational Background:

• Must be a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Documented background in current educational methodology concepts

Required Certification:

• Hold an active license as a Dental Hygienist in North Carolina

Required Industry Experience:

• Minimum of two years' experience as a dental hygienist

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a dental or health science field
• Two years' experience teaching at a Community College or University
