    Description

    Position Summary: The Dental Storeroom Coordinator is responsible for the effective inventory management of dental equipment, materials, and supplies for Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. This coordinator is accountable for receiving, storing, organizing, tracking, and distributing dental inventory to support clinical, educational, and administrative operations. Responsibilities include counting and sorting incoming orders, supplies, and equipment to verify receipt against requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices while maintaining accurate inventory records. The Dental Storeroom Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff and vendors to ensure timely availability of dental supplies and equipment while promoting efficient inventory management practices and compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

    Daily Operations
    • Manage the School of Dentistry storeroom inventory, including receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing dental equipment, materials, and supplies.
    • Coordinate the receiving and delivery of dental equipment, materials, and supplies to departments and clinical areas.
    • Count, inspect, verify incoming orders against requisitions, purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices to ensure accuracy.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure inventory levels adequately support clinical and academic operations.
    • Perform walk-throughs, observations, and monitoring of departments responsible for clinic supplies and inventory.
    • Communicate regularly with Deans, Department Chairs, Administrative Assistants, faculty, staff, and vendor representatives regarding inventory needs and supply availability.
    • Monitor compliance with institutional policies, procedures, inventory standards, and applicable regulations.
    • Promote effective communication with employees to support efficient inventory management and continuous process improvement.
    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve inventory management procedures for the School of Dentistry.
    • Provide operational coverage for departments as needed to ensure continuity of services.
    • Support College, School of Dentistry, and community events as assigned.
    • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe storeroom environment.
    • Perform other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to support departmental and institutional goals.

    Required Skills
    • Knowledge of inventory management principles and stock distribution procedures.
    • Familiarity with invoices, purchase orders, requisitions, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
    • Ability to read and interpret requisitions and accurately fulfill supply orders.
    • Knowledge of purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and distribution procedures.
    • Ability to accurately enter, maintain, and retrieve information using computerized inventory management and purchasing systems.
    • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, vendors.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and cohesively with coworkers across multiple departments.
    • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, dependability, and accountability.
    • Strong customer service skills with a respectful, service-oriented, and approachable demeanor.

    Preferred Skills
    • Experience with inventory management.
    • Knowledge of dental equipment, instruments, materials, and clinical supplies.
    • Experience using computerized inventory management and purchasing systems.
    • Experience coordinating vendor relationships and procurement activities.

    Required Education and Experience
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience in inventory management, logistics management, receiving, purchasing, storeroom operations, or supply distribution.

    Preferred Education and Experience
    • Additional education in business, supply chain management, healthcare administration, or a related field.
    • Experience in purchasing, receiving, inventory management, or dental/healthcare supply operations.
    • Previous experience in a dental school, dental practice, healthcare, or higher education environment.

    Preferred Licensure, Certification or Registration
    • Certification in inventory management, supply chain management, purchasing, or a related field is preferred.
