Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Surgical Assistant to join our oral surgery team. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, assisting chairside during surgeries, managing instruments, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the entire surgical process. This is a full-time position with working hours Monday through Friday, with surgical cases starting by 7:30 AM and ending around 4:30 PM. The Surgical Assistant must be willing and able to float between our three office locations in Quincy, Plymouth, and Norwell, MA.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare the operating room for surgeries
Assist chairside during surgical procedures
Monitor and recover patients after sedation
Stock, clean, and sterilize rooms and instruments
Operate and maintain the autoclave
Take dental radiographs, including X-rays, panorex, and cone beam CT scans
Track and manage surgical implants
Maintain and monitor inventory and supplies
Assist with patient education and provide pre-op and post-op instructions
Review patient medical histories and help prepare for procedures
Update crash carts and maintain emergency preparedness
Support anesthesia/sedation and nitrous oxide procedures
Uphold OSHA infection control standards to ensure a clean and safe work environment
Assist surgeons in medical emergencies using CPR certification, emergency kits, oxygen, and more
Qualifications:
Valid MA State Dental Assistant License
DAANCE Certification preferred
Prior dental or surgical assisting experience
Strong multi-tasking skills and attention to detail
CPR and BLS certification preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills
