Adelphi is seeking a dentist to provide dental care for youth detained in a secured facilities in the Columbia, SC area. The dentist will work with youth between the ages of twelve (12) to twenty-one (21)to provide direct patient care for approximately 24-40 hours weekly Mon-Fri. There will be a dental assistant and a full-time hygienist to assist.

Requirements
• Thorough knowledge of dental practices and developments in the field of dentistry.
• Considerable knowledge of departmental polices, rules, and regulations pertaining to dental health services.
• Considerable knowledge of dental health problems in the community or health facilities to which assigned.
• Ability to supervise assigned personnel.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, departmental personnel from other professional disciplines within the institution, clinic, or community setting.
• Ability to perform dental work of a professional and independent nature.
• Ability to supervise and train dental assistants, hygienists, and residents.
• Ability to prepare and deliver lectures on dental health education to professional and community groups.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
• Licensed to practice dentistry in the state of South Carolina.
• Completion of required residency.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct dental examinations to assess patient health.
• Deliver appropriate dental treatments to institutionalized patients.
• Formulate independent diagnoses and professional treatment plans.
• Review and update dental policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Participate in staff and medical department meetings.
• Serve as a consultant to health units and other medical services.
• Ensure compliance with departmental policies, rules, and regulations.
• Supervise and train dental assistants and dental hygienists.
• Oversee and mentor dental residents in training.
• Plan and conduct dental health education programs.
• Prepare and deliver lectures to professional and community groups.
