About the Position
A well-established, mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is seeking a General Dentist to join its growing dental team in Heflin, Alabama. This organization is one of Alabama's largest community health center systems, providing integrated medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and other healthcare services across numerous locations. The health system is Joint Commission accredited and has a longstanding reputation for serving medically underserved communities while emphasizing quality, compassionate care.
This opportunity is ideal for a dentist who enjoys building relationships with patients, practicing comprehensive general dentistry, and making a meaningful impact in a rural community.
Position Highlights
- New graduates are encouraged to apply
- Practice as the sole Dentist at the clinic with an experienced support staff
- Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- No evenings or Saturdays
- See approximately 20–25 patients per day (some rural clinics may initially see fewer patients as volume grows)
- Treat a medically underserved patient population with a payor mix that includes Medicaid, Medicare, sliding fee scale, and uninsured patients
- Full-scope general dentistry including:
- Comprehensive exams
- Preventive care
- Restorative dentistry
- Extractions
- Limited Crown & Bridge procedures (based on experience/approval)
- No dentures at this location
- Supported by 1 Dental Assistant, 1 Hygienist, and 3 operatories
- Modern technology including NextGen EMR and Patterson Dental equipment
- Opportunity to become part of a growing dental program with additional clinic locations being added throughout the region
Qualifications
- DDS or DMD
- Eligible for Alabama dental licensure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach
- Comfortable treating both adults and children
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in a busy clinical environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive flat salary (not production-based)
- Salary is not tied to collections or production, provided daily patient goals established by the Dental Director are met
- Minimum 3-year contract with a 6-month probationary period
- 15 days PTO
- 5 sick days

- $1,200 CME allowance
