SALARY: $48,817.00 Annually

DEPARTMENT: History and Social Sciences
REPORTS TO: Chairperson, History and Social Sciences
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organizes and coordinates the administrative workflow.
- Responsible for coordinating complex departmental projects from inception through completion.
- Provides primary secretarial support to the department.
- Identifies problems and/or inconsistencies in the record system and provides for their solution or correction.
- Responsible for Administrator's files, calendar and correspondence.
- Prepares correspondence, complex technical and/or statistical reports, agenda, and minutes of meetings.
- Arranges, participates in and implements, as directed, meetings and conferences.
- Participates in the training and motivation of other support staff.
- Provides students, employees, or department members with information and directs them to appropriate
resources.
- Operates office equipment.
- Maintains accurate files and records via manual or computerized systems.
- Orders office supplies and instructional/administrative materials as needed.
- Sorts and distributes mail within the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of verifiable work experience as an administrative assistant
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Proficiency doing research on the Internet
- Strong analytical skills, organizational skills and self-motivated
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with employees and the public
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 35 hours per week
RETIREMENT: Pension Eligible
Any Middlesex College employee hired after September 1, 2011 will have to meet the New Jersey residency law requirement.
