    Position Summary:

    Supervises repair and maintenance of buildings, plant equipment, and manufacturing equipment; schedules preventative and predictive maintenance; assists in development of safety programs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Leads and supervises all maintenance processes and operations.

    • Schedules planned maintenance activities, including preventative and predictive maintenance, major equipment overhauls, and facility and site improvements to reduce equipment failure and downtime.

    • Directs computerized maintenance systems to ensure data acquisition and equipment histories are accurate and complete.

    • Supervises, trains, and develops department staff to enhance the quantity and quality of employees' work.

    • Assists in the development of a comprehensive safety program and maintains safety work order records to ensure a safe working environment.

    • Recommends, processes, and approves equipment improvements and supervises installation of engineering controls and equipment updates.

    • Assists in developing a comprehensive departmental budget to ensure the department stays within budgetary guidelines.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Education:

    • Requires one to two years of college or 8+ years maintenance/technical experience.

    Certification:

    • None.

    Experience:

    • Requires five to eight years' experience in food or CGP in a maintenance/ technical discipline.

    • Requires 5+ years of supervision in a technical discipline.

    • Background knowledge in Facilities is a must.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Competent knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance programs; requires good oral and written communication skills and good computer skills.

    • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.

    • Ability to manage a 7-day-a-week, 24-hour-a-day operation.

    Physical Requirements:

    • General manufacturing environment

    • Ability to work weekends, as required.

    Environment:

    • The environment for this position varies from clean, climate-controlled offices to manufacturing and warehouse areas.

    • Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.

    • Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.

    • Position requires the ability to stand; sit at a desk; walk around the office and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling and twisting to inspect equipment.

    • Also requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate with employees as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.

    Safety:

    • The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for up to 15 employees.
