Position Summary & Description
The Department of Finance & Economics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for anticipated part-time, temporary faculty position(s) for the Fall 2026 semester.
The department seeks candidates whose teaching, research, and/or service have prepared them to serve all IUP students.
Teaching:
Successful candidates must be able to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses offered in person, online or through distance education, or at on of our other locations. Courses may include:
ECON 101- Basic Economics
Employs basic microeconomic terminology and models such as scarcity, trade-offs, and the role of prices in determining production and the allocation of resources. Examines basic macroeconomic indicators including gross domestic product, unemployment and inflation. Explains how economic analysis tools are used by government public policy makers and the Federal Reserve. (Course intended for students who do not plan to take more than 3 cr of economics. May not be taken after successful completion of or concurrent registration in any other Economics course other than ECON 143 Financial Wellness.
ECON 121 - Principles of Macroeconomics
Articulates how aggregate income, employment and output are determined and compares aggregate economic statistics across global communities. Applies models that describe the foundations of global economic systems to analyze the social consequences of macroeconomic instability across global communities. Evaluates the role of policy in addressing economic, political and social problems facing global communities.
ECON 122 - Principles of Microeconomics
Applies microeconomic theory to assessing the behavioral outcomes and interactions of households, firms, and public policy decision-makers. Examines both individual- and firm-level decision-making processes using core microeconomic tools, including opportunity cost, marginal benefit-cost analysis, and the supply and demand model. Evaluates the trade-offs inherent in any policy choice or market outcome, and how these trade-offs should be part of one's ethical evaluation of any market outcome or proposed policy change.
