The Departmental Technician 7-10 position serves as a technical resource for the Business Taxes Unit and will provide a full range of technical assistance for the area, including but not limited to Business Registration, Corporate Income Tax, Flow-Through Entity Tax, Michigan Business Tax, Partnership Audit Adjustment, and Michigan Treasury Online. Responsibilities of the position include documentation of processes and procedures; recommendation of efficiency improvements relating to standard methods of operations including training; collaboration with other Treasury departments/divisions; performance of complex queries; lead and/or participate in special projects; and assist supervisors and front-line staff with resolution of complex tax issues.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. To perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, all work must be performed in Michigan. Remote Work. To perform the duties and responsibilities of this position, all work must be performed in Michigan. If you are a State of Michigan resident, this position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week. Please note that occasional onsite work will be required. Additionally, the selected candidate must have a secure, safe and appropriate designated workspace that allows privacy and prevents distractions while performing the duties of this position, as well as secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Remote Work approval is at the discretion of the appointing authority and is subject to change and can be ended at any time for any reason. Please note that remote work is not available if you reside outside of the State of Michigan.

E-Verify. The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
