    Description

    State of Idaho Opportunity

    Deputy Attorney General, Insurance Fraud

    Closing Date: Open until filled.

Start Date: To be determined upon hire.

Salary: Starting at $90,000 - Depends on Experience (DOE).

    Primary Duties:

This position is assigned to the Office of the Attorney General Special Prosecutions Unit (SPU) and works closely with investigators from the Idaho Department of Insurance. These investigators work insurance fraud exclusively - false or padded claims, unlicensed sales, fake policies - and they build their cases thoroughly before bringing them to the Unit. The caseload will consist primarily of insurance fraud prosecutions, but may also include public corruption cases, referrals from county prosecuting attorneys, and other matters as assigned.

Primary duties include handling all aspects of felony cases, from screening and charging, through trial and sentencing, and advising investigators. This is an independent caseload, with appearances in front of a wide variety of judges throughout Idaho.

The work builds a white-collar skill set that is rare in criminal practice: complex financial records, expert testimony, and document-intensive proof. The position suits an attorney who wants to own cases outright; newer attorneys will do so from the start, with experienced colleagues in the unit available to mentor, train, and advise.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must hold an active Idaho Bar license or be eligible for admission to the Idaho State Bar.
    • Must have the ability to frequently travel throughout Idaho.
    • A valid driver's license is required.
    • Must be comfortable managing cases with media attention and demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for public service.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prosecution experience, including handling felony cases from charging through trial and sentencing.
    • Experience with financially complex or document-intensive cases.
    • Experience working directly with law-enforcement or agency investigators.
