ABOUT THE ORLEANS PARISH DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE (OPDA)
Under the leadership of District Attorney Jason Rogers Williams, the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office (OPDA) represents the State of Louisiana in criminal matters before courts with jurisdiction in Orleans Parish. It is the mission of OPDA to increase public safety through the ethical, consistent, and zealous enforcement of the law.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) represent the State of Louisiana in criminal matters before courts with jurisdiction in Orleans Parish. The Screening division receives information regarding arrests made by the police department and determines whether criminal charges should be filed. The Deputy Chief assists the division chief in overseeing the daily operations of the division and its initiatives, in addition to other duties as needed/requested. This position is held by an attorney licensed to practice law in Louisiana, and reports to the division chief.
