Main Purpose of Job
This position serves as the Deputy Chief of Maintenance Engineering for the design, inspection, and repair of systems and utilities related to the maintenance of buildings and grounds. This position manages fund sources (program open space, underground tanks, hazardous material, capital, and operating maintenance budgets). The position also manages personnel and financial resources and develops short- and long-range plans for program operations.
Provide management and supervision of the staff responsible for maintenance engineering work, as mandated by the Statewide maintenance and repair program for all State-owned properties. This position is responsible for identifying maintenance deficiencies, prioritizing maintenance projects, managing program open space, hazardous materials facilities renewal, underground tank, using agency appropriations, and emergency projects.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
This position is the primary backup for the Chief of FED and will act on their behalf when the Chief is unavailable.
Review, assign and manage project management, hazardous materials, assessment and roof section work to assure timely completion.
Establish policies and procedures for these programs, revising as necessary. State goals, standards and controls to meet program objectives. Â
Coordinate with management and executive level personnel from DGS and other agencies regarding requirements, priorities, budget limitations, fund sources and other matters related to these budgets and maintenance requirements of State owned building so that funds are appropriated and expended within time restrictions.Â
Supervise positions in project management, hazardous materials, roofing and assessment programs including.facilities inspections, project justifications, AIE selection, bidding, award of contract and completing projects on schedule and within budget.
