Position: Deputy Clerk for the Municipal Division

Hours: 4 - 10-hour workdays (Wednesday-Saturday) -(6:30am-5:00pm)
Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour

Job Duties
The primary duties of a Civil Deputy Clerk position include the following: initiating civil cases, processing payments for court costs on civil filings, processing bonds, filing, processing case paperwork, accepting legal filings from attorneys and the public, responding to incoming calls and interacting with: the public, law enforcement agencies, attorney offices, and court personnel. Additional duties include docketing and scanning information from court filings in an accurate and timely manner, as well as performing all other office-related duties as assigned by the Clerk of Court.
Major Work Characteristics
Specific requirements involve understanding the court's purpose, which will include keeping accurate records, understanding the daily functions of the Municipal Clerk's Office and organizational structure, as well as the ability to successfully deal with outside agencies and the public (i.e., law enforcement, attorneys, defendants, plaintiffs, witnesses, victims, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
High school education or equivalent. Ability to work with the public, excellent computer skills, including keyboarding skills to enter data quickly and accurately. Cash handling skills, the ability to multi-task and work independently as specific job duties dictate. In addition, the ability to manage heavy workloads, meet deadlines and manage stressful and sensitive situations. Applicants should become proficient in job tasks within a six (6) month to a one (1) year period.
