Summary
Summary: Under general supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator, or designee, the Deputy Court Clerk I creates, organizes, and maintains all necessary databases and paperwork for the complaints handled by the City of Frisco Municipal Courts. Collects fines, fees and court costs, schedules court dates, appeals, notifications, and monitors and controls court dockets.
The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties in this description and incumbent(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.
Essential Job Functions & Other Important Duties
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides customer service at Court Clerk's window and through telephone inquiries to provide fine amounts and schedule court dates and driving safety classes.
- Collects court costs, fines, fees, and bond monies, counts, and reconciles all monies for cashier windows, posts money received on citations, and prepares daily bank deposits.
- Processes online requests and sends email responses related to the submission of documents.
- Basic citation and case data entry.
- Processes mail requests for driving safety classes, payment of fines received, attorney requests, court date requests, appeals and bond processing, and returns-related correspondence.
- Clears arrest warrants and writs as required by the judge, upon service of a peace officer, or compliance by the defendant, in accordance with accepted court and police procedures.
Other Important Duties:
- Assists with retrieving case records, reports, and signing of complaints.
- Travels to attend meetings, conferences, and training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of customer service, cashiering, and general office practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of case records and file creation and maintenance techniques.
- Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software for data entry, case information retrieval and research.
- Knowledge of posting, reconciling, and handling bank deposits.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Skill in effective oral and written communications.
- Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and performing multiple clerical tasks.
- Skill in following Municipal court practices and procedures.
- Skill in accurately maintaining, updating, and processing case records and files.
- Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
- Ability to work well with others.
Education, Experience, and Certifications/Licenses:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D, and two (2) years general office, clerical or customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that support the ability to perform the essential functions and/or skills of the job..
- Previous cash handling, posting and reconciliation experience preferred.
- The ability to communicate in Spanish and English preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
- Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License.

- Lifting - raising objects from lower to higher position, moving objects side to side, using upper extremities, back.

- Visual Acuity 1 - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading.
- Walking - on foot to accomplish tasks, long distances, or site to site.
Work Environment:
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
