Lucas County Job & Family Services is seeking a Deputy Director of Child Support to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for our Child Support Division. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for directing the division's core work: establishing paternity and court orders, managing enforcement activities, collecting and distributing child support, and handling investigations for non-payment.
Your focus will be on running an efficient, compliant operation that delivers high-quality service to the public while strictly adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:
Education: A bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Public Administration, or a closely related discipline.
Experience: At least eight (8) years of professional management experience, including a proven track record of administering a complex, multi-departmental area.
Technical Skills: Proficient computer skills, including day-to-day operational knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Licensure: A valid Ohio or Michigan driver's license, along with a driving record that meets Lucas County insurability standards.
Preferred Qualification: A master''s degree in a related discipline is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Plan, monitor, and supervise all functions of the Child Support Division to ensure compliance with county, state, and federal mandates.
Team Management & Development: Hire, train, coach, and evaluate divisional staff. Hold regular meetings to ensure accurate information sharing and collaborative problem-solving.
Operational Oversight: Set divisional goals and work plans, monitor workflows, and review procedures. Partner with performance teams to conduct internal program audits and assessments.
Reporting & Collaboration: Provide accurate, data-driven monthly progress reports to the Agency Director. Advise the Director on operational challenges, successes, and policy updates.
Community & Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary representative to the courts, county officials, state and federal child support enforcement agencies, and community partners.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep knowledge of public/governmental administration, personnel management, and standard evaluation practices (experience in a child support program is highly preferred).
Strong capability to analyze complex operational data and management reports to solve problems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a natural ability to build professional relationships across local and state levels.
A leadership style rooted in operational integrity, accountability, and a team-focused approach.
