Description
Performs difficult professional work overseeing the overall maintenance operations for all department facilities, parks, playgrounds, and public recreation areas, supervising maintenance staff, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under general direction. Supervision is exercised over maintenance staff.

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in recreation management, maintenance management, business administration, or related field and considerable experience in facility management, maintenance management, trades experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of increasingly responsible professional administrative experience in recreation and/or parks and facilities management, experience including three years of administrative and supervisoryexperience.
Two years of experience in project management, playground development, and facilityoversight.
Two years of experience with trailers, forklifts, backhoes, message boards, light towers, andgenerators.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Valid drivers license in the Commonwealth ofVirginia.
Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) (preferred)
Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) (highly preferred) or within one year of employment
Responsible Land Disturber (preferred) or within 6 months
Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) (preferred)
Commercial Drivers License (preferred)
Heavy Equipment Operator (preferred)
Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of park and facilitiesmanagement.
Knowledge of parks planning, building construction, trades, mechanical systems, and project management.
Familiarity with a variety of equipment (fitness equipment, heavy equipment, custodial equipment and athletic equipment).
Familiarity with the public sector and the operations and processes of localgovernment.
Thorough knowledge of relevant computerapplications.
