About the Agency
The Mississippi Division of Medicaid responsibly provides access to quality health coverage for vulnerable Mississippians. Medicaid provides health coverage for eligible, low-income populations in Mississippi. These populations include children, low-income families, pregnant women, the aged and disabled.
About the Position
This is a time limited position. This Deputy Director is responsible for management of Medicaid financing including knowledge of state and federal rules impacting Medicaid state and federal share, management and reporting of Medicaid spending, Medicaid budget development, management and reporting, strategic and operational adjustments for policy changes at the state and federal level, and regular review of operations, annual goal setting and working with other senior leaders on policy recommendations.
What youll need to be Successful
A background in finance or accounting and compliance with federal and state law/regulations is required. Experience managing a financial team in either a state agency or healthcare setting would be beneficial to the candidate. • Ability to promote trust-based, collaborative team efforts and governance across all aspects of the financial enterprise. • Ability to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative programs and oversee development of program improvements. • Ability to analyze complex fiscal and operational data. • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to the program and policies of the Medicaid agency. • Ability to interact with and negotiate with other state officials, legislative officials and advocacy groups. • Ability to communicate effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years of experience in management of a complex financial organization Excellent written and verbal communication skills CPA or CGFM is considered beneficial but not required MS state agency management or healthcare financial management is considered beneficial but not required

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
Military Leave
In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
