Deputy Project Superintendent

Company Overview

A Servidone Inc. is performing major heavy civil construction on the I-81 Viaduct Project Phase 2, Contract 6 in Syracuse, New York. This is a large, active infrastructure project with complex field execution, multiple work fronts, and major coordination demands across crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials. We are seeking a Deputy Project Superintendent who can take ownership of assigned scopes of work and help drive safe, productive field operations on one of the region's most significant civil projects.

The Opportunity

This is a strong career opportunity for a field leader who is ready to step into more responsibility on a major heavy civil job. Reporting to the General Superintendent, this person will be trusted with specific scopes of work and expected to manage them with a high level of accountability, urgency, and field presence. For the right candidate, this role offers the chance to expand leadership range, gain visibility on a landmark project, and become a key part of how the work gets built.

What You'll Do

  • Take direct field responsibility for assigned scopes of work and manage them from planning through execution.
  • Lead daily coordination of crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and sequencing to keep work progressing safely and efficiently.
  • Work closely with the General Superintendent to align assigned scopes with project priorities, schedule milestones, and production goals.
  • Monitor field performance, anticipate issues, and drive solutions that keep work moving and reduce avoidable delays.
  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, safety, and quality teams to make sure work is executed according to plan and project requirements.
  • Maintain strong field discipline around safety, production, housekeeping, quality, and subcontractor accountability.
  • Track progress, communicate upcoming needs, and keep leadership informed of field conditions, risks, and opportunities across assigned scopes.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 6 to 12 months, success in this role will likely include:

  • Taking full ownership of assigned scopes and running them with increasing independence and consistency.
  • Delivering work safely, on schedule, and in a way that supports the broader project plan.
  • Building credibility with crews, subcontractors, and leadership as someone who can organize work, solve problems, and maintain field control.
  • Improving coordination across labor, equipment, and materials so work fronts stay productive and well managed.
  • Becoming a dependable extension of the General Superintendent by driving execution with sound judgment, accountability, and follow-through.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who knows how to lead work in the field and can take meaningful responsibility on a large heavy civil project. Strong candidates will typically bring:

  • At least 8 years of experience leading crews in the field on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Strong field supervision experience on highway, bridge, transportation, utility, or other infrastructure work.
  • The ability to manage crews, subcontractors, and daily operations across active work areas.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, sequencing, site logistics, and field problem-solving.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • A practical leadership style with the confidence to make decisions, enforce standards, and keep work moving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with field personnel, engineers, project management, and leadership.
  • A clear commitment to safety, quality, and schedule performance.

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience with HCSS HeavyJob
  • Experience managing multiple scopes or work fronts on large civil projects
