SHERIFF & ADULT DETENTION
POSTED: 04/02/26
Responsibilities:
The Boone County Sheriffs Office is a top tier law enforcement organization. We are one of only a few Sheriffs Offices in Missouri to achieve two national accreditations - for our law enforcement and jail operations.
The staff at the Sheriffs Office are dedicated to serving their community with the highest degree of professionalism and to serving the training needs of our law enforcement partners. We have been providing training to other law enforcement agencies since 2015 to help with the professional development of our law enforcement partners.
As part of its commitment to providing high quality training to other law enforcement agencies, we took over operations of the local law enforcement training academy in 2024. During the same year we received funding to develop a new Regional Training Center to further support the training mission for area law enforcement. That new facility is now open!
We are looking for employees who want to be part of an organization that is dedicated to serving and bettering our community, and who want stability, great benefits, and a path to a great career!
This is an entry-level position. Applicants for this position are required to attend an applicable law enforcement training academy to gain POST approved peace officer licensure. This position is eligible for promotion to Deputy Sheriff upon successful completion of a POST academy. Applicants who do not successfully complete academy training may be released from employment. Applicants for the Deputy Sheriff Trainee position must successfully complete all phases of the selection process. If successful, the applicant will be registered by the Boone County Sheriffs Office with an approved academy, after signing a contractual agreement. Applicants who take it upon themselves to register with an academy before being selected for scholarship funds will be responsible for all costs associated with the academy.
