Description
Summary/Objective: Dermatology technician performs a variety of clinical and/or administrative tasks to help a dermatologist run their office.
Essential Functions
- Summons and prepares patient for office visit.
- Assists Provider or PA with medical office procedures.
- Administers medications, including injections, documents meds given or prescribed by ordering provider.
- Administers dermatology and pathology biopsy procedures.
- Assumes responsibility of maintaining current certification in CPR.
- Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policy & procedures and newsletters.
- Adheres to nursing policy and procedure when documenting in patient's record.
- Attends support staff and department meetings to keep informed of employee issues and concerns as well as organizational updates.
- Maintains confidentiality of clinic materials.
- Provides and reinforces patient instruction and education as indicated.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience within the last 2 years. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Current BLS certification or to be completed within first 90 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience: Experience or training in a medical health care facility as a Medical Assistant
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: 1 Year experience in Dermatology.
