Actalent is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of premium firearm systems and accessories. This role offers the opportunity to drive innovative product development from concept to production, working alongside cross-functional teams to create cutting-edge mechanical products. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with strong CAD expertise, a solid engineering foundation, and a passion for bringing new products to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and prototype innovative firearm-related products and accessories.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Plan and execute product testing, validation, and performance analysis to ensure reliability and quality.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support cost estimation activities for new product development projects.
  • Select materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes that align with design, performance, and cost objectives.
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure functionality, manufacturability, and quality standards.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product designs.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to develop efficient, scalable, and cost-effective production solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing products through design improvements and process optimization.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments, including Production, Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, company policies, and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or engineering design.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience using SolidWorks and 3D CAD modeling software.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience conducting and interpreting Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing firearms, firearm components, or similar precision mechanical products.
  • Knowledge of machining, metal fabrication, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting products throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept through production launch.
