Design Engineer II

Responsibilities

  • Analyze products and tooling to develop and maintain design standards and specifications that meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure product compatibility and consistency across product lines.
  • Lead efforts to improve product quality, performance, and manufacturing efficiency using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Production teams to support customer and business needs.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for internal teams.
  • Identify key product features and dimensions to reduce development time and design risk.
  • Participate in Kaizen and 5S initiatives to support continuous improvement.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical documents to assess feasibility and recommend engineering solutions.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including product and tooling standards.
  • Identify opportunities for new products and intellectual property and present recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Use SolidWorks and engineering analysis tools, including FEA and simulation software, to support product design and development.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities to meet business objectives and deadlines.
  • Perform engineering analyses to validate product performance and customer application requirements.
  • Design new products and develop manufacturing specifications for customized or modified solutions.
  • Participate in Agile team activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support Stage-Gate New Product Development (NPD) processes by completing project deliverables and participating in gate reviews.
  • Collect and evaluate customer feedback and application data to drive product improvements.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to automate routine tasks, improve analysis, and enhance documentation quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, and familiarity with FEA or simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and structured product development processes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, including AI-enabled engineering tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
  • Experience developing or implementing AI-based tools to improve engineering efficiency and automate analysis.
  • Familiarity with customer-focused product development frameworks such as Strategyzer, Jobs-to-Be-Done (JTBD), and Lean Canvas.
