JOB TITLE: Design Engineer

Summary: 

• Designs major components or major portions of functional systems and technically advanced prototypes.

• Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations.

• Investigates design factors including ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost.

• Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.

• Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products.

• Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.

• Identifies design errors, omissions, and deficiencies and recommends revisions or improvements in design layout.

• Leads design, procurement, assembly, test, and verification of automated test systems, including data review and trending.

• Develops hardware requirements from subsystem to support equipment test systems.

• Develops test system design documentation to communicate proposed designs to internal design teams, vendors, and customers.

Requirements:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or a related discipline, or equivalent experience and combined education.

• Hardware development experience for electrical and electromechanical test systems.

• Strong technical background with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) or other similar systems.

• Experience with interconnect design and cable design.

• Experience with one or more PLM systems including Creo, Windchill, Zuken, or Pspice.

• Experience with product lifecycle including development, deployment, and retirement.

• Issue tracking experience for defect and discrepancy management.

• 3+ years of professional experience in electrical hardware design and test.
