PGS Worldwide is seeking a Design Engineer in Grand Prairie, TX for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role designs major components, major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, promotional products, or specific products. The position supports product development, manufacturing operations, design layouts, drawing reviews, and recommendations for design improvements.

Required Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience with Creo design
  • At least 2 years of experience with Windchill PLM/PDM
  • Experience with mechanical primary and secondary structures
  • At least 1 year of experience with concept development
  • At least 1 year of experience with design review content preparation
  • At least 4 years of experience creating finished 3D models
  • At least 2 years of experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • At least 2 years of experience with complex mechanical/electrical concepts

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Model-Based Definition

What You’ll Do

  • Design major components, major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, promotional products, or specific products
  • Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
  • Develop basic data, preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes needed to present design proposals
  • Investigate design factors including ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost
  • Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development
  • Create layouts of assemblies and detailed parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products
  • Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, calculation accuracy, and dimensioning
  • Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies
  • Recommend revisions and design layout improvements to responsible engineers or designers
