Design Engineer | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $69,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Plainwell that are seeking skilled Design Engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Creates detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for production.
  • Performs design calculations and simulations to validate product performance and manufacturability.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and supply chain, to ensure design feasibility.
  • Selects appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on cost, performance, and application requirements.
  • Develops and maintains product documentation, including specifications, bills of material, and test procedures.
  • Participates in design reviews and implements feedback to optimize designs for efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshoots design-related issues during manufacturing and provides engineering support for production.
Recommended Qualifications
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with a PLM system (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter, Arena)
  • Familiarity with design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) principles
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic FEA simulations to validate designs
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for design automation or data analysis
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles and their application in manufacturing drawings
