    NOTICE OF JOB OPPORTUNITY

    TITLE: Design Engineer

    Conceptualize and design new mobile interactive experiences centered around the camera. Own the development of new interactive experiences from prototype to product release. Push the limits of Augmented Reality (AR) on wearable devices and create innovative user experiences. Work closely with the product design teams to create and iterate on new prototypes. Work closely with engineering teams to build sophisticated prototypes. Work with user researchers to test new ideas and iterate on feedback. Present work directly to the CEO and company leadership. Collaborate with Creative and Engineering teams to build the most fun, surprising, innovative, and stable products possible that impact the direction of the company.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor of Science degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Design Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related engineering field plus six (6) months of experience in design engineering, product management or related experience.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    Academic knowledge and/or professional experience in:
    • Strong computer science fundamentals.
    • Expertise with JavaScript, C# and C++.
    • Expertise in designing, prototyping, and programming with real-time AR development tools and 3D engines: Unity, Unreal, Lens Studio, OpenFrameworks, Processing, and WebGL/OpenGL.
    • Expertise with 3D assets: Maya, 3ds Max, and Cinema4D.
    • Familiarity with creating experiences for VR/AR.
    • Familiarity with 3D math, linear algebra, 3D geometry, graphics, and rendering.
    • Understanding of software engineering principles.
    • Ability to act as a Product Manager, when needed.

    OTHER: Job Site: Specs Inc., 2772 Donald Douglas Loop North, Santa Monica, CA 90405. *Hybrid work permitted – Specs practices a “default together” approach and expects our team members to work in the Santa Monica, CA office at least 80% of the time (an average of 4 days per week). 40 hours/week. Base salary: $209,000 - $313,000 per year. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs. Our Benefits: https://careers.snap.com/benefits.
