    Overview Join to apply for the Design Engineer - Transmission role at Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group .We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Design Engineer to develop layouts for substation components and systems while ensuring compliance with safety and construction standards. This role involves designing physical substation components, selecting materials, preparing design documents, and collaborating with engineers and field personnel to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.Key Responsibilities Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design. This includes PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper.Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and other CAD software for scaled drawings and mappingImplement engineering redlines with precision and ensure accuracy before finalizing drafting/drawingConduct engineering calculations, including voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker analysis, and pole loading assessmentsPrepare joint utility use authorizations based on field data and engineer redlinesEnsure compliance with local regulations, design codes (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC), and construction standardsPerform quality reviews to check for inaccuracies, omissions, or compliance issues, and provide recommendationsWork collaboratively with engineers and project teams to develop solutions and modifications as neededMaintain detailed project documentation and support engineering calculationsWork a minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential for up to 50 hours and occasional overtimeQualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited programMinimum 3 years of related experience with routing and design of high voltage overhead transmission line facilitiesTechnical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar CAD toolsExperience with power distribution engineering software (PLS-POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD preferred)Understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBCStrong knowledge of engineering drafting and design principlesBusiness Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsTravel Requirements Role will require travel as necessary to achieve job responsibilities, up to 10-25% of the timeNote This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
