Overview
The Design Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development of mechanical products, leading designs from initial concept through production release. This role operates in a fast-paced environment with accelerated product development cycles and requires strong technical execution, organization, and time management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new products from concept through prototyping and production release
  • Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software
  • Generate and manage all required technical documentation, including:
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Assembly and weldment drawings
    • Installation instructions
    • Manufacturing support documentation (e.g., fixtures)
  • Collaborate closely with project and manufacturing engineers to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and iterative design improvements
  • Ensure accuracy, organization, and version control of engineering documentation within PDM systems
  • Balance multiple concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment (typical cycles ? 6 months)

Product & Technical Scope
  • Mechanical systems and structures for equipment and vehicle accessories
  • Designs involving materials such as:
    • Sheet metal
    • Formed tubing
    • Glass
    • Thermoformed plastics
  • Strong emphasis on design for manufacturability (DFM), especially with sheet metal components

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required

Experience
  • 5+ years of experience using SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings
  • Experience with PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM Professional preferred)
  • Hands-on experience designing with sheet metal and tubular structures preferred

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong proficiency in CAD design and product documentation
  • Experience with surface modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) preferred
  • High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive timelines
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Self-driven with the ability to work effectively under pressure
